Jerry S. Chesson, Founder, Board Member
Mr. Chesson has over 40 years of management experience beginning in the financial industry with Wachovia Corporation. He is the founder of Southeastern Shelter Corporation and RMI Polymers, Inc. Mr. Chesson has served a wide variety of community causes notably serving as the founding president of the Durham Lions’ Club. Mr. Chesson attended North Carolina Wesleyan College 1960-1964.

William P. Hodges, Chairman
Mr. Hodges is President of Metrics, Inc. Since founding Metrics in 1994, Hodges has overseen its transition from a start-up analytical laboratory with four employees to one of the Southeast’s premier pharmaceutical development laboratories with more than 200 employees. Throughout his tenure, Metrics has experienced double-digit annual revenue growth. Prior to starting Metrics, Hodges worked for 11 years at Burroughs Wellcome Co. (which eventually became part of GlaxoSmithKline) in the development and validation of analytical methods. Hodges holds bachelor’s and master’s of science degrees in chemistry and analytical chemistry from East Carolina University.

Scott E. Neuville, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Neuville became the President and CEO of Chesson Labs in January 2008. Neuville brings proven leadership and operational experience in highly technical and competitive healthcare markets to Chesson Labs. Prior to Chesson Labs, Neuville was the President, CEO and board member of Qualyst, Inc., a North Carolina based life sciences company. Neuville is also the former Chairman of the Board and CEO of iBiomatics, a SAS company. iBiomatics was the first healthcare technology spin-off of SAS Institute, the world’s largest privately held software company. Prior to iBiomatics, a SAS company, Neuville served as an executive with a healthcare software company. He played a major role in the development of the organization that led to a merger with A4 Health Systems in 2000. A4 health Systems was subsequently acquired by Allscripts (MDRX) in 2006. Prior to that, Neuville spent seven years at STERIS Corporation (STE) in several senior executive roles including President of the Americas Healthcare Division.

Dhiren R. Thakker, Ph.D.
Dr. Thakker is the Ferguson Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Pharmacy, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He is a co-founder of Qualyst, a company formed based on the technologies invented at the School of Pharmacy, UNC-Chapel Hill.  Dr. Thakker joined UNC in 1996.  Prior to that he spent eight years at Glaxo Inc. where he was Director of Drug Metabolism Department, eight years at the National Institutes of Health, and four years at the Center for Biologics, FDA. Dr. Thakker’s current research interests are in mechanisms of drug transport across Intestinal Epithelium, cytochrome P450-mediated drug metabolism, and pediatric drug disposition.  He has also worked in the area of methyl transferase enzymology, stereoselectivity of cytochrome P-450 enzymes, chemical carcinogenesis and metabolic activation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.  He has published over 140 peer reviewed papers, reviews and book chapters and co-edited two books. Dr. Thakker obtained Bachelor of Pharmacy from Bombay University, India, M.S. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Columbia University, New York, and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas.

Fred D. Hutchison, J.D. Secretary
Mr. Hutchison is the founder and a Partner at Hutchison Law Group. His practice is focused on venture capital, securities and mergers and acquisitions. Fred has represented more than 200 entrepreneurial companies over the years and has worked with some of the Triangle’s leading technology companies. Fred was the founding President of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, the largest entrepreneurial support organization in the country. He has also served as the Chairman of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the Chairman of the Business Innovation Technology Advancement Center. Fred has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America and is regularly recognized by Business North Carolina as one of the best corporate lawyers in the State. Electronic Business magazine recognized him as one of the top 10 technology lawyers in the country in 1990 and Business Leader Magazine recognized him as the 2007 Entrebizneur of the Year. In 2006, he was the recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest civilian honor given by the state of North Carolina. Fred earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1971 and his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1975.

Jeffrey (Jeff) C. Basham
Mr. Basham is currently the Vice President of Business Development at Metrics, Inc. He has 30 years of experience in the health-care products industry, having previously held titles of chief executive officer and president in addition to sales and marketing positions. Mr. Basham holds an undergraduate degree from The American University in Washington, D.C., and a master’s of business administration degree from Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago.
